(00:30) Randee: Hello and welcome to the Dark Moon Cafe. We are your hosts. My name is Randee.
(00:37) Khasanti: And I’m Khasanti.
(00:38) Randee: And each Dark Moon, we will be inviting you in for a monthly conversation about astrology and other adjacent topics. Each episode we’ll compare notes on how the monthly transits have been showing up for us, followed by a deeper dive into a specific topic, which for tonight’s episode is Saturn’s recent ingress into the sign of Aries. You can find all of our transcripts on our website, darkmooncafe.com. We hope this podcast offers a cozy space to settle in and explore with us how we live our lives through the lens of astrology. So hey, Khasanti, how are you and what are you drinking tonight?
(01:24) Khasanti: Hey, Randee, I’m doing great. Thank you. And I am drinking a cup of lovely hot water.
(01:32) Randee: OK (both laughter)
(01:37) Khasanti: Yeah, I, I, don’t blame you for not sounding very excited about that, but I am leaning into having Saturn start to go through my sixth house of health and wellness and daily routines and things that we do to give our poor bodies the best shot that they have at surviving in this crazy world. And so, so yeah, I thought let’s just hydrate. We’ll have some nice hot water. And I do actually like hot water. I don’t love drinking cold water unless it’s like really a hot day. I feel like my body prefers, prefers the hot. And I also feel like that’s a good, good kind of antidote to some of the Saturn energy. Saturn’s nature is cold and dry, so what better than some hot water to just kind of lubricate that whole system, right?
(02:43) Randee: It’s a really strong rationale. (both laughter)
(02:51) Khasanti: So, yeah that’s what I’m sipping on. What about you, Randee?
(02:56) Randee: I am, so I’m going to build up to this. So I first had to, of course, look up what happens when stone meets fire. Because I was thinking, you know, Saturn moving into a very fiery habitat. And what happens? And this is what I found: “When stone meets fire, it typically doesn’t burn, but undergoes significant physical and chemical changes, leading to discoloration, cracking, flaking, even disintegration…” And it just goes on from there. So at the risk of being overly dramatic, tonight I am drinking a lavender spritzer because I liked the fizziness and sort of the alchemy behind that and just a little dose of dreaminess because I’m sure we might reference Neptune at some point. So lavender spritzer and thinking about stone meeting fire and what that’s going to mean.
(04:12) Khasanti: Wow. Yeah, that turned out a lot tastier than where I thought you might be going with your description of what happens. (Randee laughter) I’m like, where in the world kind of beverage are we going to end up with like crunching our way through…
(04:27) Randee: Like a piece of charcoal.
(04:28) Khasanti: …like a exploded stone.
(04:31) Randee: (laughter) Yes, yes exactly.
(04:32) Khasanti: So, lavender spritzer sounds pretty good.
(04:37) Randee: Yes, with a charcoal stone in it. (both laughter)
(04:44) Khasanti: I love it, I love it. So how’s the astrology been treating you, Randee, since we last chatted? What’s been hitting you?
(04:57) Randee: Yeah, its been just fine. A pretty interesting little transit that I took note of (and I’m sure I might kind of get into this a little bit more), but I am in some ways pivoting in my career. And I had a business meeting, for lack of a better word, with a small business development center recently. And as soon as the meeting concluded, I just had to consult the chart. And we just recently kind of went or going through a new moon in Cap cycle, or we just recently did, and this new moon was just crossing over my sun. So I thought, what, what an apropos transit to kind of illustrate starting a new business. You know, we have Capricorn, which is such a builder kind of energy, and the moon sort of referencing the healing essence of the practice, and the Sun illustrative of life path. So I just really loved that and I thought that just kind of hits the nail on the head. So how about you? Have there been any transits that kind of stood out to you this last month?
(06:35) Khasanti: Yeah, the most notable one for me was when it was about under three, well, I guess about three weeks ago, unbeknownst to me, this is kind of a little bit of a sad story, and it’s one that you’re already kind of tuned into from text messages. But so my mom is going to be 89 in April and she lives in England and I live on the west coast of the States and I guess she fell and injured her arm and didn’t tell me about it for several days. And there was a lot of, yeah, this isn’t very kind of cheery podcast material, but it is the stuff of life and astrology. And she’s fine. She’s doing well. She’s healing up well and she’s in good spirits, s that’s good. But on the day that I finally learned this news, I checked the chart and Mercury was exactly conjunct Mars and Mercury is the messenger and Mars rules accidents, injuries, broken bones and whatnot. She did in fact break her elbow. So, you know, that’s something that astrologers call hashtag astrologer good, is like when something shitty happens either in the world or in your life. And you’re like, there’s nothing, nothing good about this situation, except that it’s, it’s kind of cool that the astrology kind of mirrors what was going on. So you at least kind of get a little, a little some kind of feeling of maybe this was fated to happen on some level or something. So, yeah. And it wasn’t, that’s an interesting example, I don’t think it was hitting anything particularly loud in my chart. Like it wasn’t on my lot of mothers or anything like that. (Randee laughter) Actually, I didn’t look that up. Maybe it was. It should probably go look. But I am in a Mars year at the moment, using the timing technique annual profections. And so what that means is that Mars transits in general are just kind of louder for me and more notable. Yeah, so it’s going to be interesting to, so yeah, as I’ve mentioned like a couple times now. So yeah, I’m in a sixth house year, which happens to be Aries for me because I’m a Scorpio rising and Aries is the sign that Saturn just went into and that’s what we’re going to be talking about today. So, it’s just, yeah, I’m kind of interested to see what this whole Saturn in Aries thing…I have feeling that it might be a little bit more intense for me because that house in my chart is like currently highlighted through that timing technique.
(10:14) Randee: Mm-hmm, right. I’m glad that your mom’s okay.
(10:19) Khasanti: Yeah. Yeah. I won’t go back through all of the various phases of that story unfolding, but yes, thank you. Thank you for the good wishes and I’m yeah, I’m relieved as well. So I guess we could just like get into it.
(10:46) Randee: Yeah, I think we’re ready. Yeah, let’s do it.
(10:51) Khasanti: Yeah. So yeah, we’re going to be talking about Saturn moving into the sign of Aries, which happened on the 13th of February.
(11:09) Randee: 13th, 14th…yeah.
(11:11) Khasanti: Right, right, right. So actually it hasn’t happened yet as of the time of us recording, but by the time this episode airs, Saturn will have just kind of hopped over the boundary from Pisces to Aries. And we thought we’d give you a little background on Saturn and how fast, obviously we spent a lot of time talking about the vibe of Saturn in our last episode. If you haven’t checked that out yet, go have a listen, because that’ll tell you a lot more about the nature of Saturn. But in more astronomical terms, Saturn takes approximately two and a half years to go through a single sign of the zodiac, and it takes approximately 29 years to go through all 12 signs of the zodiac. So if you’ve ever heard anybody talking about their Saturn return. That’s a thing that happens when you’re kind of 29-ish years old, it’s, well, at least that’s your first Saturn return. So, you know, each time Saturn changes from one sign to another, it’s a notable happening in the sky and in the astrology of the world and in our personal experiences of astrology. Because at least when you use whole sign houses, like we do, that means that Saturn is moving into a new house in your birth chart. And that means that Saturn is kind of switching gears from Saturning all over one area of your life (Randee laughter) to Saturning all over a new one.
(13:03) Randee: Yes! (both laughter)
(13:06) Khasanti: So that’s why, you know, we’re not, the Dark Moon Cafe isn’t, there are like so many podcasts and YouTube channels and blogs that kind of do regular horoscopes that we made a decision that we didn’t want to be another kind of voice adding to that. But for these kind of bigger transits, the ones that don’t happen so often, we feel like it’s worth kind of diving into some of the symbolism of what that means. And we’re gonna go a little bit later in the episode into not exactly full horoscopes, but just kind of letting you know, like, if you’re a such and such rising sign, then this is what area of your life Saturn’s gonna be moving into. And then hopefully you can use some of the information that we’ve…that we’ve discussed to give you a little bit of a heads up as to what that might look like.
(14:12) Randee: Exactly. And I think that’s such a great foundation for us to start from tonight because I do think that there is such a significance when an outer planet moves signs, um especially from a sign where it doesn’t really have positive or negative dignity, it’s just kind of chilling, to a sign where it’s in its fall. And we’ve kind of studied and learned about what that means. And essentially, when Saturn moves into the sign of Aries, which is governed by Mars and the Sun as its exaltation ruler, it really does lose dignity. And it has to put in a lot of effort to do its Saturn-ing-ness in that area of your chart. You know, one kind of way I’ve been thinking about this, like maybe even a little poetically, is I’m thinking about, you know, this slow, measured, halting energy of Saturn (notice I’m talking more slowly) entering the furnace of action, ambition, competition, and independent sign of Mars and Aries. And within that, I think we can just sort of feel into how there’s going to be a bit of a change, a bit of a change of pace, a bit of a change of projection, and I think some inherent tensions that we may have to kind of grapple with in that area of our chart, in the Aries area of our chart. Not that it’s going to be all bad by any means. There could be a lot of greatness. And I use that word intentionally. There could be a lot of greatness with this. But I think overall, we may feel into a bit more effort that we need to be putting out, or that we just find ourselves putting out. Yeah.
(16:40) Khasanti: Yeah, yeah, that feels right to me. I think, you know, I always like to use the what’s called the guest-host metaphor…
(16:55) Randee: Yes!
(16:56) Khasanti: …in astrology, where it’s like, if we imagine that Aries is one of the two houses that is governed, hosted by Mars and then Saturn shows up at the front door and is like, hey, I’m here to stay for two and a half years. (both laughter) You know, Mars’s house is Marsy. Mars’s house is kind of like, it has all of the things in it that helps Mars to be Mars. So it’s probably, there’s like probably a bunch of like weaponry up on the walls…
(17:38) Randee: Yes, yes (laughter)
(17:39) Khasanti: …you know, it’s a place that’s made for kind of moving around fast and making, making impetuous decisions and just kind of flying by the seat of your pants. And Saturn is this kind of like older person who kind of like you said, moves slowly, kind of maybe, maybe has some mobility issues, is kind of used to kind of thinking things through really carefully before acting. And somehow Saturn has to like kind of find a way to be okay in this environment that’s just not really Saturn’s favorite kind of place to hang out. So, yeah, I think some tensions are going to be on the menu. I’m someone that probably feels more Saturnian in a certain way, even though I’m ruled by Mars, but I’m definitely someone that doesn’t like to be rushed and I get really stressed if I can’t take the time that I need to do things as thoroughly as I want to. And I feel like that that’s going to be in some, in probably like myriad different ways that kind of vibe is going to be around. Whether it’s like a situation out there in the world where we can just kind of see these archetypes playing out, where there’s just a kind of conflict between the forces that want to like move fast and break things and the forces that want, you could even kind of look at it as like sort of progressive against conservative in a certain, not necessarily kind of in an overtly political way, but just in terms of like the people who like things to kind of stay how they are, kind of knocking heads with the people that want things to change. (Randee: Mm-hmm, yes) Yeah. And I think there are pros and cons to both. Sometimes it’s really good to shake things up. And also sometimes, you know, you put like a teenager behind the wheel of a fast car and you maybe wish that there was somebody a little bit sensible in there to kind of stop them from crashing and burning. So yeah, I feel like that’s the…that’s the kind of thing we’re going to be seeing. And it might be the kind of thing that we see, like, within ourselves, within our own psyche, between the parts of ourselves that want to be more impulsive and the parts that want to be more sensible. Or we might find ourselves in enacting that kind of polarity with other people in our life. So I thought it might be interesting for folks to just think about, do I feel like I’m generally more that kind of fast-moving Mars-type person, or do I tend to be a little bit more kind of thoughtful and patient and Saturnian? And just, I guess, be prepared for like, you might, If you’re the Mars, then you might run into some Saturn. And if you’re the Saturn, you might run into some Mars. Yeah.
(21:28) Randee: Mm-hmm. Yes, I love that. And to go back to your guest-host analogy, you know, it’s like that Aries part of our chart is getting like a heavy knock on the door. It’s like a real heavy pounding (Khasanti laughter) knock from this Saturnian force. And I completely agree with you, I think that there are going to be tensions that we experience. And I like how you said they could be inner, they could be outer, they could be within and between. Because, you know, I don’t want to say that these two are necessarily opposite energies. Certainly, I think we could we could think of some examples that might appear opposite, like slow/fast, traditional versus progressive, like you said. But I think even more so, there could just be kind of an atmosphere of tension around a change of pace, a change of how we’re doing something, perhaps more of a depth to what we are doing. And when I think about the shift from Pisces to Aries, I also think about something in terms of putting our dreams into action, putting something that has been in a less tangible way into something that has action steps, but with that Saturnian kind of pace. So I think there could be a lot of frustration, honestly, because Aries wants to just move and wants to start shit. And Saturn’s just not about that. And Saturn might feel pressured in ways that it doesn’t like to feel pressured and so I think there is, there is an inherent tension here and it will be interesting to see how that shows up. And, you know, we were kind of thinking about how might we best prepare for this. And I think that sometimes we can look back at transits that have occurred in our life to kind of study them a bit. And that might give us some clues as to how this current transit might show up for us. Certainly age and stage matters in our life. But I’d love to maybe share some personal examples, Khasanti, unless there’s something that I missed before you’d like to move on to that.
(24:48) Khasanti: Well, I do want to mention the Neptune situation.
(24:54) Randee: Ah, yes, we have to.
(24:55) Khasanti: But then definitely let’s move on to the kind of looking back to look forward. But yeah, one of the notable things, and this is why astrology is so kind of endlessly fascinating and amazing because like there’s just always all of these different nuances. So like, you know, at this particular moment in history, Saturn is heading into Aries in lockstep with Neptune, who is also just kind of beginning their journey through Aries. Neptune is going to spend a lot longer because it’s a lot slower of a planet. But to begin with, there’s going to be this big Saturn-Neptune conjunction that’s happening, I should know this like off, I guess it’s like around the 20th of February. And that’s like one of the biggest transits of the year. And what that does is that it kind of it, it lends a bit of Neptune-ianness, or a lot of Neptune-ianness to Saturn. So it’s not just kind of Saturn on his own knocking on the door. It’s like Saturn who like just dropped some acid or something (both laughter) knocking on the door.
(26:20) Randee: Saturn’s brought a friend. (both laughter)
(26:28) Khasanti: So then you have this, and it’s interesting that you mentioned that when Saturn was going through Pisces, that that was maybe, you know, there was some more kind of like dreaming things into – being in the more kind of dreaming, visioning stage of things and that maybe once we get into Aries, there’s going to be some more action, which I think is still true. And also, Neptune is the planet of dreams. It’s the planet of kind of misty, mysteriousness and things not being very clear. Whereas Saturn really likes things to be clear. Saturn likes clear boundaries, likes a plan, likes to be able to see several steps ahead. And so Neptune is going to be kind of muddying the waters a little bit. So it’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out.
(27:30) Randee: Such a good point. Yes, it complicates the narrative. (both laughter)
(27:40) Khasanti: Yeah. Yeah, it really does. And particularly kind of to begin with, like I can see, I can imagine that as we move through the next two and a half years, like Saturn’s gradually going to kind of get some distance from Neptune. So over time, the kind of fogginess and dissolution of Neptune is going to probably feel less. Saturn’s going to be freer of that and more able to just kind of…help with discipline and boundaries and good habits and devotional practice and all that kind of thing. But to begin with, it might be a little weird.
(28:27) Randee: Yeah, I’m really glad that you added the Neptune piece. It’s so critical right now. And I can’t help but think of the concept of time as you’re talking. You know, Saturn really kind of embodies time as a concept. And I think that when I think about Saturn entering Aries, along with Neptune and them sort of holding hands for a while, I think about Saturn finding a hard time finding its rhythm. It’s already going to struggle to find a pace that it’s comfortable with. And I feel like with Neptune there, Neptune just wants to do some twirls and it wants to maybe freeform it a little bit. (Khasanti: Yeah) It’s just going to struggle at first. It’s going to stumble until it finds its rhythm. And I do agree with you that once it separates and sort of really finds itself moving through Aries and establishes itself more, it’s going to find more of a pace that it’s comfortable with. But yeah, I think it could be a little bit of a struggle at first.
(29:53) Khasanti: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. But yeah, I think that was like the main other thing that I wanted to add. (Randee: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.) Yeah I guess one thing that just hopefully this isn’t too much of a digression, but like one thing that’s kind of been intriguing me is the fact that when Mars goes to visit Saturn’s house, Mars is exalted, or at least one of Saturn’s houses, Mars is exalted in Capricorn. So that’s just interesting. I don’t know if I kind of understand fully what that difference is, but I feel like it kind of speaks to the fact that it’s just a little bit more of a kind of natural situation to have a kind of more, sort of younger, more impetuous kind of energy being tempered by elders, like parents or teachers, or you know, kind of being guided and channeled and kind of given some boundaries. And it’s just interesting to me that that, at least in in the world of astrology that’s kind of a one-way street, like Saturn struggles more when the shoe’s on the other foot.
(31:27) Randee: Brilliant. I love that. Astrology is endless food for thought. And maybe we could also sprinkle on top of that that Mars loves a challenge. And so in the deep depths of winter in the Northern hemisphere, it just loves to try to pierce through that a little bit. (Khasanti: Yeah) But I love what you said there. And I think that’s really spot on.
(32:07) Khasanti: Yeah. Yeah, I love the thing about the winter and yeah, that Mars is…even though Mars is kind of not so…I guess Mars in Capricorn is a Mars that is able to kind of stay the course right because it’s kind of being lent some of that Saturnian ability to play the long game and that’s actually a really potent combination if you have the energy and fire of Mars but it’s kind of given the guardrails of being in Capricorn then boy you can really build some amazing stuff with that combo.
(32:56) Randee: Beautiful, beautiful. Yeah. And I think that might speak to some of the potential deeper gifts of these archetypal combinations that are always accessible, right? We can always access the bright and the shadow side of all of these archetypal combinations.
(33:22) Khasanti: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
(33:25) Randee: So yeah, yeah, so much to consider.
(33:28) Khasanti: Mm-hmm. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so let’s move on to our kind of looking a little back in the rear view mirror to the last time that Saturn was in Aries. So because we’re both like Gen X kind of old people at this point (both laughter) we can look 29 years into the past and have something be there. Obviously, if you’re a kind of younger person who hasn’t had their first Saturn return yet, then you’re not going to be able to do that. So we’ll try and remember to offer some options to you for how you might still be able to kind of get in on this, for now, let us, yeah, let’s get into it.
(34:28) Randee: Yeah, so we’re looking at the time frame of roughly April of 1996 to June of ‘98. And then we account for a bit of a retrograde. And then again, we’re looking at fall of ‘98 to spring of ‘99. So roughly speaking, we’re looking at sort of spring of ‘96 to spring of ‘99. And this is just such a good learning exercise. So I would encourage all of you to think back to that time of your life and what was happening. And when I really sat and thought about it, it was pretty kind of amazing to me because Aries is in my seventh house, which is traditionally the house of relationships, partnerships, and when I look back at that transit, that was really when I entered into my first serious relationship in my life. You know, and serious, so Saturnian, right? This was a long-term relationship. This was like a seven-year relationship. (Khasanti: Wow) And so that really stood out to me. And then also, I was thinking about where the ruler of my seventh house is, which is Mars in my fifth house. So if we start kind of thinking about what are some fifth house sort of topics that might be illustrated here during this transit? And during that timeframe was really when I became very serious as an athlete. I was recruited to play sports at college. And so not only do we have that fifth house theme of sports and recreation being so huge during that period of time, but I also met a lot of coaches and mentors during that time. So when I think about Saturn as potentially representing a mentor, someone of authority, a coach, that really kind of mapped onto that period of my life as well. And yeah, so I won’t jump ahead too much to kind of what I’m thinking about this transit for me right now in my life, but that’s sort of, I think, where it was in the past. How about you?
(37:19) Khasanti: I love that. Well, first of all, I have to say that the image that came to my into my head was like you in a training montage in a movie. (Randee: yes, yes – laughter) You’re like kind of sort of doing jump rope and kind of like, you know, sort of running along the beach while somebody’s kind of like cycling along next to you. And, you know, you’re just this kind of young fiery, Marsy person. Like you know, I yeah, I love that.
(37:50) Randee: Totally having like a Rocky Balboa moment, right? Like training and (both laughter) That was my Adrian phase.
(38:04) Khasanti: Yeah, I love it. love it. Yeah. Because of course, the Aries house of our chart is going to be one of the places, one of the two places that are kind of more fiery and Marsy typically. So it’s like, yeah, just interesting to kind of note that that’s kind of like the backdrop to whatever that house topic is or those house topics are. And then you have the Saturn knocking on the door and kind of bringing all of that kind of Saturniness.
(38:43) Randee: And something like athletics that takes such a discipline and such a practice over time to master. You know, I think that that just really maps on perfectly to that period of my life.
(39:00) Khasanti: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s amazing. So yeah, for me, as I mentioned, Aries is my sixth house, which we already talked about some significations of the sixth house, but another one that’s really important is that it is the house of hard work, thankless toil, kind of our teacher Adam calls it the “chop wood carry water house,” which I like. That’s kind of like a Buddhist saying, I guess. And so yeah, it can speak a lot to our work life as well as kind of just the kind of tedious adulting type things that we have to do that aren’t really that fun, but we kind of, you know, we got to brush our teeth, we got to go to the doctor, we got to, you know, pay the rent or what have you. (Randee: yes) And so unsurprisingly, when I look back at what was going on for me back during that timeframe, there was some interesting stuff happening in my work life. I had recently returned to England from this big, expansive, amazing, life-changing trip that I took to the states and Canada and kind of dealing with some… I guess it was like…it was kind of confronting to just be done with that adventure and be like, okay, now I’m back in my home country and I’m broke and I need to figure out how to make some money. And one of the things that had happened to me on my trip was getting like really inspired by the environmental movement. I did a little bit of volunteering for a Green Peace in San Francisco and it was kind of my dream to go back to England and see if I could, you know, maybe like get a job with Green Peace or Friends of the Earth or like one of those other kind of NGOs that was doing good stuff for, for the planet. And so amazingly, I actually managed to get a volunteer position at Green Peace in London in their press office and then applied for a job in their public and supporter information department and got it. And it was really like one of my first jobs that I had that was, it was meaningful to me as well as kind of being hard work. I, it was, so my Mars is in my ninth house, which is the house of meaning making, philosophy, religion, spirituality, amongst other things. And so I think one of the ways that I interpret that in my life is that if I’m going to be engaged in kind of drudgery on the work front, then it has to be at least some, there has to be some kind of mission behind it or something that’s kind of meaningful to me and coherent with my higher values, I guess. And so this Green Peace job was just perfect for that. I was so inspired by everything that they were doing and I worked really, really hard. I had some really stressful times like I was managing their merchandise catalog and I had to kind of work through this extremely busy Christmas season where there were all kinds of, you know, just things going wrong and loads of like kind of angry people kind of leaving voicemails for me every day about why isn’t my stuff here and is it gonna, you know, and it’s one of those things where I still put things on my resume now, like the last job that I got, I kind of got an interview because of something that I said on my resume that was to do with that time working at Green Peace. (Randee: Wow) So it feels like it was kind of very formative in terms of like me figuring out what kind of worker I am and what my, what I bring to the table with all of my other astrology placements, you know, my love of systems and all that kind of thing. Really, I kind of got an opportunity there to just kind of find myself in the workplace. And so I thought that was really cool. Yeah, and so that job kind of was most of my Saturn in Aries transit in the 90s. I did end up leaving that and then going to work for a charity that was helping people who had AIDS and HIV. So that was also kind of something that was near and dear to my heart for in that sense of kind of being connected with my values and so forth. And then I threw it all up and went off to India on a Buddhist pilgrimage in the very last little burst of Saturn in Aries. While that’s not exactly to do with, obviously, Sixth House matters, it just feels like, oh well that was my ninth house Mars just plucking me out of the “chop would carry water” and being like, we need, we need to inject a little bit more of that meaning making into this situation. And then we’ll, then we’ll figure out what we want to do after that. So, yeah.
(45:40) Randee: And travel, you know, further. Travel far away – a ninth house signification.
(45:46) Khasanti: Yeah. I mean, a pilgrimage, you can’t get much more ninth house than a pilgrimage. It’s long distance travel for the purpose of like the spiritual path. So yeah, that’s pretty on the nose.
(45:58) Randee: Yes, absolutely. And I love that, I love the case study you just offered. It spoke to so much about what Saturn in Aries is. Like I wrote down some things as you were talking, you know, that sense of adventure. We haven’t really talked about adventure in the realm of Aries, but I think Aries does embody energy of adventure. (Khasanti: Oh yeah) Moving something that had been a dream of yours to a reality of yours, you know, that could also kind of go back to that Pisces Aries cusp. (Khasanti: Oh yeah) And more responsibilities, right? So I think whenever we’re thinking about a Saturn transit, that area of our life that Saturn’s going to light up a little bit is possibly going to face more responsibility. And also you had a lot of success, it sounds like. And I think that is, that’s a by-product of a Saturn transit, I think in the best of ways, is that we put in the hard work, we do something challenging, and we are successful. You know there’s a legacy that we can hearken back to. So what a cool life experience you had, and how awesome that it just really illustrates the astrology so nicely.
(47:36) Khasanti: Yeah, I love looking back with astrology. I almost prefer it to looking forward. I just find such gems that teach you not just about like the archetypes themselves, but also kind of how they tend to express themselves in your particular chart and life, which is just a really nice kind of body of knowledge to start growing. So I just want to say, like, I really recommend to people if this is intriguing to you, like one thing that I did when I first started getting into astrology was I just made this giant spreadsheet that has like a column for every month of my life. Probably tells you a lot about me that I would do that. That’s a very Khasanti coded…
(48:36) Randee: I have seen this spreadsheet…it is mind-blowingly amazing. (Khasanti laughter)
(48:45) Khasanti: But it’s like super awesome to kind of, when you do something like this, to be like, well, let’s see, what was I doing between the spring of 1996 and June of 19… Well, I’m so glad you asked, let’s see, this is where I was working, this is like who I was, you know, having a relationship with. You know, it’s, it takes a bit of work, but it’s a really great tool as an astrologer or just a person who’s kind of interested in exploring the astrology of their own lives. So highly recommend that. (Randee Mm-hmm) Yeah, so, I feel like we’re kind of, I know we have like a whole ton of stuff still on our list to talk about, but we’re also kind of getting up there time wise. So I wonder if we should prioritize what else we want to get through.
(49:46) Randee: I agree. And maybe we could kind of go through some of the rising signs and highlight the houses and just a few words on the topics that might be ignited a little bit during this time for folks.
(50:10) Khasanti: Yeah, let’s do it.
(50:11) Randee: All right. So we’re looking at the time period of, now we’ve already kind of dipped a toe with this transit back in May of ‘25 to September of ‘25. Then we had a bit of a retrograde back into Pisces. And so now we are back for good with Saturn in Aries and it’s going to be there until spring of ‘28. So that’s sort of the timeframe that we’re looking at. So folks can kind of think about that as we go through. For our Aries rising folks this is occurring in your first house. So the house of self the body your own personal psychology and your sense of vitality. So everything we’ve kind of talked about tonight, you can sort of funnel into the topics of the first house if your Aries rising and kind of just do a little thoughtful meditation on it and just notice and observe and see what shows up for you. For our Taurus rising folks, this is all going to be happening in your 12th house, personal favorite of mine, the place of Saturn’s joy. And so this house often can bring about some shadow work. It can bring about a light being shined on the things that we don’t always see as readily, sometimes things that we hold in our subconscious. And so I think this could be a really deep time for you of personal reflection. Always a great time for a retreat when Saturn goes through the 12th. For Gemini risings, this is going to happen in your 11th house, the house of social socialness, friends, allies, groups, people that have your back, people you network with. So we would love to hear from all of you, by the way, how these are showing up for you. For Cancer Rising, this will be your 10th house, the House of social standing, the House of legacy, the House of career, the House of status. Might anticipate some more responsibilities there. For Leo Rising, folks, this is happening in the 9th house. We sort of gave the 9th house a little bit of a treatment just now. The House of travel, the house of what expands ourselves, what expands our minds, the house of spirituality, the house of meaning. And for our Virgo Rising folks, this is happening in the Eighth House. This is the house of karmic debts, karmic endings, the bonds that we hold with others. Our teacher often speaks to it as the entanglements that we may find ourselves in with others, shared resources. So that takes us through Virgo Rising.
(53:53) Khasanti: Wow, fantastic delineations of house topics there, Randee. (Randee: Oh thank you – laughter). So I will take us through the next six signs. So for our Libra risings, Saturn is going to be transiting your seventh house. (Randee: I’m listening) So you may have some experiences to what Randee just described. This is your house of committed relationships and sometimes kind of one-on-one client relationships, something like that. So you could see things getting a little bit more serious or long-term in that kind of area. And also kind of some of that tension that we talked about, the kind of Mars-Saturn tension. For Scorpio risings, that’s what I was just talking about with my sixth house, that’s your house of daily routines, chopping wood/carrying water, looking after your long-term health, all that kind of good stuff. For Sag risings, it’ll be your fifth house, which is the house of creativity and children and relaxation, enjoyment, stuff that we just like to do because it feels good. So maybe you’ll get serious about your art practice or get serious about starting a family or something like that. And for our Capricorn risings, this will be your fourth house, which is to do with home, family, your roots, where you come from, your ancestors, that kind of thing. And then Aquarius risings, this will be your third house, which has to do with siblings and short distance travel, neighbors, neighborhood, communication, that kind of thing. And then finally Pisces rising, this is all happening in your second house, which has to do with resources, with money, with what you get paid for what you do, possessions, like all of your kind of things that have value in some way, this transit’s going to be playing out in that area for you. So yeah, and I wanted to just kind of touch back on, we’d said that we were, for those of you who haven’t had your first Saturn return yet, I think probably the best thing for you to do if you’re looking to make some sense of what things might look like for you over the next little while is look back to, I know it was kind of a short amount of time last year, but through the lens of whatever house this is for you, think about those house topics and just make note of anything that was going on in that area of your life between May 26th of 2025 and September 1st. And that might just give you a little sneak preview into some of the vibes that are headed your way. So yeah, any final thoughts Randee before we wrap up here?
(57:56) Randee: Oh gosh. You know, I don’t necessarily have any final thoughts. Just that, you know, we’re all going through this together and we’re all learning. And I think it’ll be kind of interesting to see how this shows up in our lives. And maybe we could even comment on that next time we get together. (Khasanti: Yeah totally) How about you, Khasanti? Any final thoughts on your end?
(58:24) Khasanti: Yeah, I guess just, just kind of a word of encouragement, that, yes, technically this isn’t the most easy breezy transit that’s coming up, but to be, what is that phrase? To be forewarned is forearmed or something (I don’t know) it feels very, very kind of Saturn in Aries…
(58:52) Randee: It feels Martian.
(58:53) Khasanti: Somehow, yeah (both laughter). So hopefully just some of the stuff that we’ve shared today has given you a flavor of what kinds of things to look out for, what kinds of tensions might be on the horizon. And at the very least you can kind of recognize when you can be like, I’m like fighting with my old neighbor who doesn’t want me to like kind of put a shed up in my yard or something like, Oh maybe, maybe that’s Saturn in Aries. Maybe, you know, I feel like it can just help to know what the astrology is doing so that when things come up that are really like on the nose for that, you can just step back a little bit and be like, this isn’t the universe’s personal vendetta against me. It’s just like you said, Randee, it’s something we’re all going through in our own ways. And how can we do that with as much grace as possible? (Randee: Mm-hmm, yes exactly) So with that, we will conclude this episode. We have loved hanging out with you as always at the Dark Moon Cafe and we hope you enjoyed your time with us.
